Material Type: Green River Stone
Age: 20th century
Background / History: We
purchased this statue in Indonesia, where it was crafted by local
artists, and shipped it to its current location in Boulder County, CO.
Specific Details: An Indonesian masterpiece sculpture, meticulously carved by hand
from a single, solid piece of river stone using chisel and mallet. The
Buddha is depicted with an aura of enlightenment and with the greeting
mudra, also known as namaskara (Namaste) or sun salutation. The artist
applied a very special finish using various stains, leaving the
sculpture with an incredible patina. This statue will make a beautiful
centerpiece in any location.
**The
statue was cracked in half at one point before we purchased it (notice
seam in photos) and has been restored likely using a type of Javan
mortar. This piece is priced accordingly and will certainly please the
right buyer who may be looking for "perfectly imperfect fine art!"
